The material that lines your underside of ya bonnet, i imagine it is to help with sound/heat ? I't would have no adverse effects removing it would it?? i have noticed that a s**t load of falcons dont have it there.

Remember it costs something, so Ford didn't put it there for no reason.

Well the XR's didn't come with it, but the other cars did. Dunno what that means. But if it wasn't there for a purpose Ford wouldn't of put it on the GLi's I don't think.

I removed mine about 3 months ago cause it was rubbing on my intake and making it go black.

Haven't seen any problems........yet.

*touch wood*

yeah it is just sound and heat insulation. But as said, if it didn't serve a purpose it wouldn't be there. The XR don't need it casue they've got vents, and I guess for an XR some noise isn't a problem - maybe even desireable.

my gli has it but i have to take it of cause it rubs on my 3" intake and i dont want it wrecking the nice new chrome finish so unless it is in your way i spose there is know reason to remove it as i think its simply just for a bit of heat and noise resistance

its there for two reasons, one is obviously noise and the second is to reduce reflective heat and help keep the bonnet cooler.

Welcome to Fordmods - and we have one rule, there are no dumb questions, just chunkz!! :P
