has anyone ever dyed carpet?
I want to change mine from Grey to Black, or as close to black as possible. i'd consider aftermarket carpet but every experience i've had with them has been bad. considering my carpet is in good condition i figured dying it could be an option. any particular products that could be used? i intend of removing it and doing it properly, not attempting it within the car.

From what i've read, you need to purchase the dye concentrate and mix it according to the bottle, then pour it into a plastic spray bottle, spray the carpet all over and allow to dry, not too difficult if your gonna take out the carpet. (make sure to wear gloves).
Here is a snippet which may help you. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Revive carpet dyes are available via mail order through Revive Pty Ltd. Contact Revive at: 220 Prices Circuit, Woronora NSW 2232. Ph: (02) 9545 3777, fax: (02) 9521 3808 Email: revive@ozemail.com.au Dyes cost $10 (500ml), $17.50 (1 litre), $75 (5 litres) plus postage. The postage costs around $6-$12, for up to 5kg within Australia." -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

roof linings not too bad to get in and out.
just gotta be careful of the plastic trim as the clips break easily. roof lining would be fairly easy to 'trim' or paint as its doesn't 'wear' like a floor does.

Damn, i wanted to get my car re-trimmed evntually with a BA inspired interior (black carpets etc, retrim seats in black, maybe brushed aluminium highlights if going all the way)
But just genrally id love black carpet. Would be good to see how it turns out.

Speaking of roof lining, mine is sagging a bit above the driver seat (and no where else, lol), best course of action?

ignore it and get a beer not to sure actually on how its held to the roof, my idea was bit bored of a grey interior was to dye the carpets and roof lining, pillar plastics and possibly the seats... and everything else.. gotta decide how itd look first

Hehe. I've actually seen places advertise the service of fixing this, just can't remember who/where/number, so dang.

Yeah i've seen Kyles....
didnt like the feel of it when he did it. I might speak to him about how it is now, it was all rough just after he did it. Do you know what method he used to do it Ross?

i've started the colour change process. Done the two front door trims on the weekend, just gotta get the woodgrain trim back on somehow. the tabs were forcefully removed by my butchering skills. the top half of the dash is done, and the centre console. Do the back door trims soon. I reckon the roof lining will be harder than the floor carpet for sure. Will have to get the seats retrimmed in black leather aswell.
