Hey guys, and gals.
Did a search, there is a lot of info for using Dynamat (or similar) to enhance your car audio system, however I was wanting information on using the same material to reduce road noise I am experiencing a fair bit of it at anything above 70 thanks to the rubber bands that are wrapped around my 19's. I also want to ever so slightly reduce the interior noise of my exhaust at about that same speed. So, my question is, is Dynamat (or similar) a viable option for achieving this? Or would lining the boot and the floor of my car be an expensive and time wasting exercise with no real benefits? Thought/Comments welcomed and appreciated. By the by its a 2002 AU3. --Luke

what about that sound deadening paint, you can either get brush on stuff, really thick tar based stuff, or you can get spray on cans. don't know if it would work very well??

I'd have to disagree with you there.
It may not be the best solution, but I have noticed a big difference in road noise from using it. Weighing up say less than $100 of the stuff up against $1200 of dynamat makes it seem pretty attractive to me. It is afterall pretty much what most manufacturers use in the wheel arches of cars. |

I've redone all the inside of my doors, backs of the door trims, under the boot carpet, side of tailgate, wheel archs, didn't notice squat. Just my opinion.

How thick did you go with it?
If your going to compete with dynamat it's going to have to be pretty thick. |

If you want a decent job on the cheap (it's 90% of dynamat performance, but 25% the price). Flashtac. It's a roof weatherproofing material, available in rolls from Bunnings/etc.
I've done my boot lid with it. Works great, no more number plate or wing rattle. And the boot closes with a thud.

hmmm might need to get my hands on one of those sound deadeners.
the paint sounds good for its price but if it does squat...I take my money to Dynamat. phong =P~

Yeah does the job, bitumen backed with foil. I did the front doors of my old ED with it, worked pretty well, punchy as mid bass, had to retune the front stage.

How do you reckon it would go on the firewall?? my dash is out ATM and i'm looking to add a extra layer of material behind the heater box...
