I happen to have the scans of an EA's digital dash. But I haven't done anything with 'em.

I have been mucking about and got the designs printed professionally on transparent film (two of each so I could over lay them to stop the black parts lighting up), I put white paper behind the numbers etc. However, when the lights are on, the black parts let through light anyway.. So I need to somehow stop it doing that - I am going to try some thin black cardboard, and maybe even sand off the top layer on the original (will get a spare) plastic if the card doesn't work.

What a bastard of a setup.

Great work guys they look awesome, Has anyone attempted this on an au falcon before? When you did this guys did you have to take the whole dash apart to put the led's in or just where the cluster is. Also, all you need to do is have a good printer right, i mean to print out your end result?

Hi data_mine could I possibly see what you have for the EA digital dash and see if it works for the EB.

Screamer if you read the doco that
data_mine has kindly provided for the site, then it should answer most of your questions.

It should work for the AU falcon, you would just have to open up the instrument cluster, and scan the face plates. The AU dash would be similar to the EL dash wouldn't it?

As for the dash LEDs, for the cluster, you would only need to remove the cluster itself. (I'm not exactly sure about the AU, but you shouldn't have to take off the whole dash.) Then you would have a choice, you can follow {DESCRIPTION}, you could solder the LEDs straight to the dash {DESCRIPTION} or you could buy the premade Narva LEDs already in the holders, from Repco.

It's up to you mate.

As for the printer, it just depends on how you want it to look. If you think your printer prints out fine, then use it, after all it's really only for you.

I used an Epson Stylus R210 printer, and I'm fine with it. It even printed out well on the transparancy paper. (so much so, that they are going to become my masking layers).

Can confirm the AUs (and BAs) can be done in the same fashion, as there's already those uber epensive replacements availabel on ebay. So all that is needed is for someone to be guinea pig and take their cluster apart, and scan in the dials.

I don't have access to an AU, and I don't think work would like me pulling apart the BA Futura wagon.

Well i'll give it a go this weekend and i'll send you the scanned images if you want them. I think i'll buy the pre made led's, cause i don't have a soldering iron. i'll post some pics when im done.

Mniven. What do you mean by "masking" layer? Have you got paper, masking layer (transparent film), and then paper again?

Screamer, be sure to scan them at 600dpi, and send a copy my way, so I can host them for others.
