Howdy folks, My EA Fairmont Ghia has the trip computer clock illumination light ON 24/7. I have removed the lamp as the only way to stop it draining the battery. Does anyone know what magic box controls the fade out of the lamp after pressing the clock button? I'm a new member, hope someone can help.

I thought it was a function inside the trip computer itself?
If this is the case, something has gone wrong with it. Cheers ToranaGuy

Thanks, Torana Guy. I guess I will have to look for a replacement from the local wreckers as I think most bits for the good ole EA have been discontinued by Ford.

When the trip computer is off and you press and hold the clock button to turn the backlight on for the clock, it isn't computer controlled fade. It's a manual on with a momentary button.
When it's on can you cycle through the functions of the search button? And does the clock button work? It sounds like the clock button is broken and permanently on. Also if you have trouble finding one I have and EA type trip computer mate.
