In the EB there is a 3 speed controler where as in the EF there is a 5speed controler with interminten dial aswell.
As it has being pissing down hard and the wipers arent fast enough in the EB.
Can I upgrade the controler so that I can get the wipers to work faster or would I have to upgrade the colum?

You sure its actually faster? or just more steps to get up to the same wipe speed.

as I have access to both models I would rather drive the EF when its pissing down hard as the wipers are faster thats why I want to upgrade the EB.

as far as i know the speed of the motor is controlled byt the BEM, which is different to the el. To get the faster wipers and variable speed, wires would need to be added to the column, a new stalk would be needed, and a new BEM, which would most likely require extensive modification of the wiring harness. However, the speed of the motors through the bem is most likely controlled by changing the voltage, so with the use of a relay youd think someone would be able to pipe though a little more voltage and pick things up a bit :D If its already getting 12 volts, the motors themselves might be different. Not sure, maybe someone else nows :D

Yes, the BEM controls the speed of the wipers. You would need a Futura or higher BEM and the wires and the EF stalk.

Maximun speed is obtained from the motor not the BEM or controller. The BEM/controller only slows down the motor etc. So to get faster wipers you need a faster motor. I do not know if the EF/EL motor assy will fit the EA/ED. I hope this helps.

You wouldnt think theyd change things like the motor or anything, but then it is ford :D
Got in my brothers commodore this morning to shift it, used the windscreen wipers, and they are MUCH quicker than the EA - ED. Bt of a pity as it can make it quite interesting in the rain at times :? :(

Fair enough, though I owned a EA before and I wouldn't have thought its fast speed was slower than the fastest speed on my EL, however I never timed them!
