Hi guys the scenario is..
My EB climate control keeps blowing out hot air unless i put the temp on 16 and any temp up from that the air is hot. I done a multiple resets on the unit and every now and then it says E3 but not on every reset. Today i bought a replacement cabin sensor and changed it but still no different. I also pulled out the glovebox and checked the vacume lines all seem ok and noted nothing odd. If i say have the aircon climate set to 20 degrees and press auto hot air is automatically directed to the feet unless i over ride it. Any suggestions as this is pissing me off something bad and my last resort will be getting an auto electrician to have a look. Thanks guys.

Mate i got the same problem with my NC Fairlane. I have no idea what's causing the problem. As i have changed everything with new parts. The only thing i can think off is the module it's self must be stuffed. You can get a change over unit from repco but i dont know the price of them.

well spoke to the auto electrician today and sounds possible the control unit is playing up. He is taking it out on monday and going to get it tested and fixed if need be. If i get a second hand one it may be just the same and the control unit i have is also in perfect condition. No marks at all on it so its worth fixing i suppose.

No they didn't mate. I can ring them up tomorrow and find out for you. But after getting the trade price on the unit i would think around $300 because they charge you $20 freight a**hole.

Guys we need to be 100% sure that the control unit is at fault. We could end up spending $300 or so on a new control unit and it might not solve the problem and we have wasted cash. It sounds logical that the control unit may have died but for it just to stop working all of a sudden?? Im still a bit sceptical and confused at the moment.

Make sure that the green vacuum hose in the engine bay is attached to the heater tap.
Make sure that the black vacuum hose in the engine bay is attached to the rear of the intake manifold. A faulty CC ECU will by default blow air to screen Make sure the sniffer sensor it attached to the sniffer motor hose. Also make sure the sniffer motor is working (use a just-extinguished match or cigarette to see if it sucks in the smoke) Report back once youve done all this.

ok checked vacuume lines. They were ok however the black air line hose from the top of the fuel reg to the back of the intake manifold had a slight split in it. I fixed that but problem not fixed. It is still blowing nice hot air at 19 degrees.

The fuel reg vac line will have no effect on any CC system The black one I was talking about comes out of the firewall with the green one.

I have yet to come across a EB/ED fairmont with climate control that works "properly"..
I have owned 4 ED fairmont's and in that time ALL of them either wouldn't allow recirculate air to function unless the A/C was on or wouldn't get cold unless at 16 degrees..Diagnostics with OFF/FOOT button showed no codes and the radiator workshop guy said more than likely the dash needs to be removed to get access to the heater control box..This is after a regas with new receiever dryer ect and radiator flush, checking the heater tap and lines at the firewall ect... Get a control unit from the wreckers and test it before handing over $$$ I |
