heyas

in my ebII fairmont my drivers side windows go up instead of down and down instead of up.

The buttons for front and rear window are also reversed (ie you press down on drivers window and rear window goes up)

so what i was thinking was i could just swap the wires around in the plug that hooks upto the electric windows control panel..... dunno how it all works so open to suggestions ! :)

can i do it this way or is there another (hopefully easier) way to get my leccy windows working the way they should.

Sounds to me like someone has fiddled with the wiring at the switches and got it all a*** about. I'd be starting there.

Check under the switch bank and see if the connector plug has been put in the correct way round. May be someone forced it in backwards. Unless you know that the wiring has been fiddled with. See how you go

The plug seems to be correctly orientated. I know that the people that had it before me messed around in the doors to change some regulators and it turned out to be a dead control panel. The control panel has been replaced since.

The panel is one unit with switches soldered directly to the PCB so the wiring in the panel can't be changed.

As far as i know no-ones fiddled with the wiring on the plug, just in the doors, but it still doesn't explain why they're up isntead of down and on the wrong door. Only thing to note is the panel is out of a different car (dunno which model) so maybe wiring was slightly different, although i'd doubt it !

My first instinct was just to pull the door trim off and reverse polarisation so it goes up instead of down but that still doesn't fix up the wrong window syndrome.....

it does sound like the 2 main power wires are reversed but yeah they usually go in 1 way only as does the rest of it. so no idea there.
