Hey ppl,. i am now the proud owner of a 5 speed EA falcon and have heard and seen how easy it is to jimmy the key barrel with a dip-stick, screw-driver and pretty much anything else thin and rigid enough to fit in there. My car is immoblized but still dont trust it and was wondering if anyone knows if an EB key-barrel would fit as the key-hole is a bit more secure and harder to jam screw-drivers into. any help would be appreciated

yea you can.. i have a ed ignittion barrell and key in my ea.. just change the whole lot ..steering lock with the barrell and switch.. you just plug it straight into the ea plug.. |

its held in with some weird rivets. I suggest you just replace the whole steering colum. It would be easier to do that then replacing the lock assembly

yea there actually security bolts when they are done up tight the heads snap off . but if you use somthing like a narrow flat screw driver or chisel you can hit them on a angle you can unscrew them . then you just replace the bolts with socket head or torx bolts..

Yeah, they are sheer head bolts. I found a punch and hammer was the perfect way to undo them. You can get new sheer head bolts from ford when you refit the new barrel.

they are called shear bolts and they aren't that hard to remove,,replace the whole column,,bah.
i did mine in half an hour.
