Spider_GT wrote: No im 100% serious Yeah like JMC said its not actual carbon fibre. Its a film that floats on a liquid surface and the part is dipped into it (becomes a gel film). Its as tough as a painted surface but not tough enough for what your wanting it for.

But it will strenghten the tailshaft dramaticly. Im hopeing to get a two piece alloy shave the tailshaft down to matching weight all along then wrap in carbon fibre. Add a few tailshaft loops and the f**k will never have a problem again.
Cheers Spider P.S. I believe in doing things right the first time and never touching again. |

Dude i dont think it will do anything for the tailshaft. its only gelcoat paint. No Stronger than spay paint.
you will need to see someone like AWC who do the Carbon Fibre Bonnets and other parts for the BA. http://www.awcinfo.com |

Hi all. After only about 5 weeks (3-4 days was the estimate) my carbon fibre coated dash parts have finally arrived. I may get them in on the weekend but I may not either. Here are some pics. Tell me what you think.

The pattern's kinda...yeah. I dunno. I'll reserve judgement until it's in the car.
Although as John says, the quality looks good.

I was going to do exactly the same thing with my interior plastics, but I still can't justify the price. Looks hell sweet though!!

Love the guages dude! I wanted to do something similar in my EB but with black guages, but the price of them put me off a bit. Having seen yours though I might put it back on the agenda! Very nice.

Quote: how did you get / make the holes for the 3 guages on the top left bit (cant think of name. Also what are the other thing below it on the left? I super glued some plastic the was cut and formed to shape to give it a flat space and then just cut the holes with a hole saw. Then just used car body filler to smooth out any low spots. The things on the bottom left are the steering column shrouds. Quote: If you dont mind me asking where you got it done and how much it set you back
Modicoat in Qld did the job (there is a link earlier in this thread) and cost $700 all up including GST and courier back and forth (not cheap but I think its worth it). |
