I have just purchased an ED gli with ABS, as an overzealous commodore driver rearended my 93 ED Tickford XR6 and damaged the shell beyond repair. What i would like to know is what would be required to swap the running gear and cruise control into the gli body that does not feature cruise control.
Im not sure if i need to change the computer or wiring looms any help would be appreciated. thanx from a fellow ford driver

Cruise Control does not use the engine ECU, the Ed Cruise computer is under the centre console.
You will need the, Steering wheel, vacuum pump, vacuum actuator, vacuum hoses, CC cable, brake & Clutch pedal switches, wiring loom from CC computer & of course the CC computer.

I installed one of the factory kits into my EA (kit is EA-ED) this was several years ago, from memory the only differance in the installation was the location of the CC computer in the ED. Therefore I would say the loom would be the same.

They cruise loom is a part of the car loom so make sure your car has got it first or you will be doing a loom change.

Yeah pull out your centre console and look for a wide black connector with a funny clip on it, it may be tucked under the carpet. This is what the Cruise ECU plugs into
I dont think it would be there to be honest.

If the gli body has no plug to accept the CC wiring will I need to use the complete loom out of the xr6 or can I splice and solder the CC wiring in.

Follow the cruise control loom to the front right connector of the body loom. It is easy to unplug the individual connectors of the cruise control wires out from the old body loom and into the connector of the body loom that needs the cruise loom. Really easy and heaps easier than soldering. THere are also two ground wires that are part of the body/cruise loom. Just ground them somewhere on the trans tunnel.
That is what I did with mine and it worked a treat!

I dont think it would be there to be honest. I bet it does! The kit I bought several years ago was for EA-ED gli & S and the only differance I remember was the location of the ECU, I don't recall having to add any wiring looms. I could be wrong though it was 1994!
