doesn't that only show what you have the selector in not what the auto has selected? Or is that what he's after? :?

My display can show me either, I can have it with what gear I have selected, or flick into the other mode and see what gear the gearbox is in.

the high-series cluster acts just like the selector display on the centre console - it shows you P R N D 3 2 1 - if you want to know when in D what gear has been selected, then you'll have to wire something else up for that! :?

I'd like to rig up that into my mid cluster - that would be funky!!

Hmmm so if I put a Fairlane or LTD cluster into my Fairmont I'd be able to see if I was in P R N D etc.? Is that a straight swap or what?

Nah its not a striaght swap....
You need to re-wire one of the Cluster connectors. to get the Warning lights and such working....
(The Gear position thing will work straight off the bat....)
Then there is the whole wiring the door open warning lamps up as well...

Image

Not a great image, but thats the one I fitted to my EF a couple of years ago.
The Gear position is located where the smartlock LED is.... (Middle of cluster)
The picture is Showing R for Reverse

http://www.fordmods.com/forums/documents.php?doc=14
That doco gives you info on how to wire the thing up...
