Hey all.....I just made a good donation in the hope to get an answer or two on something i wanted to know last week but did'nt get any response from.....My EF heater control is'nt turning on, but the A/C does so i removed the dash cover and C/C unit but when i pulled the unit out the rubber hose that clips to it disconnected itself at the other end and i 'cannot' find wer the bloody thing goes...... I'm hoping it already was discoed and will fix the prob as i need the demister to work for upcoming RWC......It has a female bullet terminal at the end.....Does it go near the vac canister thingy on top of the heater box thats right up under the dash.....Or??? :?

The rubber hose is the sniffer line...all it does is suck some air from the cabin and measures the temp and uses it for climate control.

What exactly is the problem? You mean the air never gets hot?

hot air problems usually come from the heater hose falling off the heater tap...get underneath the car under the firewall area...you will see the heater tap...it should have a small pipe connected to it...this is the vacuum line that controls it...

Thanks guys all this info is great.....But it still does'nt tell me exactly where that connecter joins too......Aaargh!!! And the reason i pulled it out is as above.....The A/C turns on and the mode selections work but the temp buttons don't change temps so i can't get any heat anywhere.....Have pulled the unit apart and all the tracks in the p.c.b appear fine but may be no good huh.....Just want to re connect this sniffer hose and see if that fixes it??? Do the c/c units fail??? Will check the heater tap etc too???

As I said above, the sniffer line is ONLY used for that one purpose....

Did you check the heater tap under the car? Is the vacuum line connected to it?

Ummm yeah........ it is only used for ONE thing......but it's (sniffer line) got an electrical bullet termial connector on the end of it.....WHERE DOES IT CONNECT!!!.....to let something else know what the cab temp is??? I know it was connected cos the unit would'nt come out until the line discoed itself??

Check out the pics in http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=47720. The black hose with the foam around it is the one you're after.

O.k just found it! And realsied its only a slip in hose connector that i thought was a terminal! Well i doubt it will solve the prob but at least i can put c/c unit and controls in enough to run it again and try and check it out some more.....Do the control buttons or p.c.b fail???

Thats what I said before..that won't fix your problem.

The most common fault that causes no heat is the HEATER TAP under the car, the vacuum hose tends to come off and so doesn't work when you select heat.

O.k guys i got the car warm/running today with the C/C unit back in and 'all' functions work except for the temp up/down buton....Oh and the vac line is on the heater tap and it's not jammed up.....I think just the p.c.b is faulty wer the temp button works....though it appeartd to be fine when i had it apart....Any ideas/clues??? And i'm still happy as the A?C is working and demister so that will help pass the r.w.c hopefully!

Clean the rubber contact pads and the corresponding circuit tracks on the circuit board.
Use metho or similar.

Good o --- I have a similar issue on 95EL Fairmont --- The TEMPERATURE UP works fine - The TEMPERATURE DOWN does nothing!

Needless to say, Wellington is not as warm as Darwin, but I do NOT need 32.5 degrees celcius in cabin all day!!!!

Now off to pull apart dash to find said circuit board behind the A/C unit.
