hey all, i'm in the middle of converting my EF to cliamte but the lever that the blend door motor attaches to is different to the non-climate blend doors. (at least i think) does the top level on the blend door come off, or is there another way to attach the motor?
thanks. |

you need to remove the cable arm/lever, then get a blend door motor and brakcet and drill the holes to pop rivet the bracket in place. The hole positions are already marked on your heater box so just drill them but be careful you dont hit the core!

Lever pops off.
The Blend motor can be removed whole with the lower bracket. Installing is easy. as above, there's recessed holes, you can pretty much just press the remaining plastic in with a bent piece of steel. There is No need to remove the heaterbox. Also you can use the 'manual' cam lever by cutting it down and drilling another hole.

u guys are awesome! i got as far as puching out the holes and tried to fit the blend door motor, but the problem is the nut part of the motor presses hard up on the pivot for the blend door, and the lug bit doesn't line up with the hole where the orginal rod went.
heres a pic of what i mean. sorry about the crappy phone pic in the middle of the night. i also found out i can put a bolt and nut and reach in though the opening and secure where the back rivit goes if im reading krytox right, the lever bit of the blend door pops off? can i just replace it with the factory climate arm? thanks heaps. |

The Metal cam on the BDM doesn't come off. There no need for it too.
Just cut/fold back remove destroy any sound deadener that gets in the way from raising the motor enough. Its a tight fit, but goes in orite. The manual lever on the heaterbox pops off, and you can simply press on the correct 'smaller' arm. You just need a screwdriver and evenly lever it up and Pop she comes, the foam is an insulator. as for the holes, I (in many conversions) used m5 bolts and pressed the right hand flap back, and stuck my arm in to install the bolts. I chocked the flap so i didn't damage the foam. Just a hint, install everything, and test run it. I've found that the vacuum pipes can leak a small amount and need 'seating' by pressing under vacuum. once your satisfied, bolt the dash back up!

as for the faom its pretty shagged its gone all crumbly thanks again krytox. |
