hey guys could anyone confirm whether the ef gli door trim has the same material surrounding the fabric insert as the fairmont upperspec models do? I'm not sure if I've worded that well but basically what i'm after is a set of non woodgrain doortrims made for electric windows fabric or whatever material that i will re trim in leather when i do my seats.

I've attached images that i've tried to highlight (badly) the area i'm talking about in paint. Hope this helps

Also, if you want to get rid of the wood inserts, you can just swap the top doortrim pieces for Gli/Futura/Fairmont ones.

Just to clarify the not the actual door insert where where your arm would rest against but the part surrounding that? I want to know what sort of material it is if it's just platic or vinyl or if it's a fabric?

I tried swapping the upper trim on my woodgrain ones, the big problem was the speaker grill. I think it attached with plastic tabs or what looked like tabs but when i got to them they were melted blobs of plastic. Trying to remove it resulted in the grill cracking and the trim looking like s**t.

Thanks for the help guys.

Ok, this is a bit complicated, but on EF and ELs there was vinyl trims and velour trims in grey and cuppachino. EF and EL grey was different. The turd brown was the same between EF and EL (?)
I dont think upperspec model EFs got anything other than velour trims, whether it be grey or turd brown. The lower model GLI and Futura only got grey vinyl, which was the same.

EL got mostly vinyl across the range as far as I could tell? And yes, the actual grey vinyl is the same material whether it be the GLi or Ghia.

If we are talking grey trims, as long as youve got the same model, as EF and EL grey was different, the then vinyl will be the same.

As you probably know the bottom part of the power window and manual window trims are different. Only the top part is interchangable.
You can remelt or trim the melted tabs off the speaker grill so it will come off, and you might have enough plastic to melt it back into place.

Does that make sense?

EDIT
Sorry, the cars that got leather seats, got vinyl doortrims. The ones with velour seats, got velour and vinyl trims.

Correct, leather seats, vinyl doortrims.

The centre console lid, which a lot of people think is leather, is vinyl too. The back of the front seats are also vinyl too, Ford cheapskates!
