Has anyone managed to successfully change the LCD filter paper on the blue dash mod without completely fscking up the LCD?
I'm going to do the mod soon but I think its going to look silly with the orange LCD still there so I want to do the filter paper as well. anyone have any hints on how to do it properly?

I just dont want to take that screen out and not be able to get those conductive pads to sit against the edges of the LCD properly again. Wondered if there was an easier way got any pics of it rapier?

What sort of paper did you use so the light actually shines through it properly? Just blue A4 paper or something thinner?

When you take the Plastic surround for the LCD off the circuit board, DONT remove the LCD from it....
Keep the LCD panel, and the 2 pads inside the LCD surround. What you do next is hold the LCD inside the surround, using the rubber pads, and invert the surround, so as the orange filter will fall out... Next place your paper inside the cavity on the surround, and screw the surround back on to the circuit board. Basically when you pull it apart, the LCD should be facing the table, and the circuit board, with the 2 or 4 screws (Depending on the cluster type) holding the board to the LCD surround facing towards you. Unscrew the screws, and lift the board off the surround. Unclip the LCD panel holder thingo, and remove CAREFULLY ! Then hold the LCD in place with your fingers holding the rubber bits so they dont fall out, and invert to remove the filter. Then blah blah blah.... Make sure that EVERYTHING is in place BEFORE you fit the plastic LCD Holder, and dont use too much pressure ! This is the part where you will crack the LCD screen if you screw up !

A blue LED will make it brighter !
I know what you mean, the blue paper with a light bulb tends to be very dull ! I played around with one cluster and used bits of a coloured newspaper, just to see how that would look..... Must say it looked interesting bits bits of the odo in blue, red, green, yellow, and colours like that... Pity it wasnt readable though !

I had a crack at the mod this weekend...
The only problem was the when the light mixed with the blue paper it gave me a yellow/green display... Still I don't care it looks better that orange.

OK, 4.9 EF's bodge tip of the week...
I changed all my screens (all 2 of them, lol) to blue. Went to office works and bought 500 bits of blue note paper (currently have 498 sitting at home). Put the filters in in...n ot bright enough. Took em out....got new bit of paper and soaked it in WD40. This had the effect of making the paper more transparent. So after soaking in WD40, let it dry. Soaked it again for good measure, let dry and chucked em in. Works a treat.

I'm just watching the ep of the Simpons where Homer gains 61lbs to get on disability.
Now bringing your attention to the bit where Dr. Nick rubs a bit of chicken on paper and it goes clear (the paper). Ah the point grease will make paper more transparent.

Datamine - couldnt have put it better myself.
"If the paper turns clear - it's your window to obescity!!" Lol, spose you could throw the paper in with your KFC theoretically.... altho i dunno how congealed fat looks on an LCD screen... lol. No pics sorry chunkz.... but picture the standard orange screens.... now picture them in blue. I mean with full sunlight behind you, even the factory colour is fairly hard to read so dont expect miracles.... but looks awesome at night and in most daylight conditions. I suggest experiementing on the clock as its very easy to remove/disassemble/reassemble/install.
