Has anyone installed EF/ EL door trims on an EA that uses the old style door locks (pre smartlock, with the flat wide buttons)

If so, whats the best way to mod that system, so the rear doors will still be able to lock and unlock? I'm afriad ill install the door trims, and those doors won't be able to open, or won't be able to lock.
Can you cut a hole out the top and add the buttons?

Cheers

Remove the actual button completely with the connecting rod off the actuator. That way you have no more buttons in the rear to worry about. Just like the EF/ELs

Thanks for that. So the central locking will still be doing its job inside the door?

The rod/button combination is only there for manual operation. The locks should still actuate without it. For some reason my EL still had the front passenger door lock, I removed the rod and button, replaced with a later model EL door trim and everything still works fine.

Well I put my drivers side rear door card on.. pretty easy.
My unit had a rod going up from the actuator, that was connected by some sort of steel joiner (had two tightening screws on it) to the rod next to it which connected to the pivot point and the button.
All i did was remove the rod that housed the button, re bent up the remaining rod, slot one end into the actuator and the other end straight to the plastic pivoter and hey presto. Works magically.
