Well seeing the thread that dang did on this made me get up and do something. Seeing as he was unable to finish what he started due to having a child or something like that.

Me and Simon (1800reverse - new member here). We have taken the the time we have at school (100mins a week) and together we are going to finish this off.

So far we have build the DOL to RS232....well we have to put one more resistor in and its complete.

We have plans to find as much as we can from the out put link and make a GUI that can be run on the carputers people have or will be making.

We hope to have basically a second cluster. It will display the anything we can get from the DOL.

We have also been reading things on the Diagnostic Mode for the EF and EL's. In this there is all the information we want to use but have to problem of converting it from a voltage to some thing you will see on the screen.

Both of us are using mac's so you will have to wait for a PC version of anything we do to come out if we get that far.

If anyone has any information on this PLEASE post it up.

We have also been studing the other thread for all vital information.

Cheers

Ben and Simon

How did you guys go with this? I might be able to help, if i'm not too late. I was in the process of starting to design some hardware to do this job when i came across these posts.

Could you give me some info on what to expect from the ECU DOL? I'm going to hook up a CRO to the pin soon. is it only serial data? If yes have you determined baud rate and other seetings? If not, is it a PWM signal with varying dutycycle? thanks mate.
