Whats the difference between the two radio surrounds i have seen for the EF EL.
A mate told me the EF had the surround that had the lighter hidden and the EL had the exposed lighter, but i have had 2 EFs and they both had exposed lighters and i thought it was the EL that had the hidden lighter.
Any1 know the answer ??

Series One EF had drop front ash tray.
Series Two has later EL type.

Some of them broke and were replaced with EL type.
being a 12y.o car, this may have happened prior to your ownage!

Yeah exactly, by the way is it just me or do others prefer the hidden lighter.
Although it was a pain having the ashtray down i guess, when you have a charger in there, ohwell I threw a second one in the back of the dash, charger plug sticks through the map pocket, hehe.

I like the look of the hidden lighter as well i think it cleans the dash up a bit.

meh,

The Hidden were the first type.
There was some issues with the mechanism not catching.

SO

Ford changed them sometime around series 2 EF.
Im sure... they used them all up and the next batch was the later type.

Interesting, come to think of it when i first got my car the tray wouldn't stay up, so i changed it for my spare, didn't think much about it though, but that explains it, meh, I got a nice smoke free one in now as a result. 8-)
