Hi All,
I am finishing of the minor things to get full functionality out of my NL cluster today... Need help with one aspect... The background is this has gone in my ED and now I am going to wire up the door ajar system and the bulb function while bypassing the trailer pack gear... I know this: Pin1 - Grn/Red - Brake Switch Pin2 - Brown - Park Lamps Relay Pin3 - Brown - Park Lamps Pin4 - Grn/Red - Brake Lamps Question is... How do I know which is pin 1 - 4 in that 4 pin connector with two of the same wire colours in it... I have searched the cluster threads in the techo docs and nothing elaborates on the above... I also verified the above with the factory manual a month or so ago when I had a lend but didn't think to identify the pins of the plug... So any help would be great... Cheers, Tim

You don't need to know.
Hook the lines up temporarily - test the circuits. If you get bulb out when you turn parkers on, swap wires around. Same deal if you apply brake lights. If all's good, pull a bulb out and make sure you get bulb out for taillights and stop lights (tail when parkers turned on, brake when you apply pedal) - might want to also double check brake lights by pulling out the high mount bulb.

Oh well that makes sense too...
Guessed as much as that it would be sensitive to which way the current flows through the shunt... Will use that method... Easy enough to swap at the plug at the back of the inst cluster anyhow... Sounds good... Thanks Snap.. Cheers, Tim

Well you only need to intercept the taillight and brake light wires to the rear - cut and hook up.

Yep
And IIRC the trailer plug needs to come from before the shunts in the cluster... Not after them? Too much current through them and damages them? Cheers, Tim

Yep, or you could use relays triggered off tailights and brake lights, and controlling battery power - usually there are the yellow battery 12v lines up the rear.

Ah yes... That'd work too... I was just gonna run a figure 8 seeing as I'm already running in another loom to add the door ajar stuff in... Fin the two pins in the plug at the start of the body loom... remove them... Put them into the 4 pin plug I'm adding and then bridges from the body loom plug to my 4 pin plug... Then run 4 wires from my plug up to the cluster... I used a airbag plug and wired as such that when you unplug the plug the contacts are made and the brake and tail lamps will function as originally intended...
Cheers, Tim
