I seem to be having some drama's with my EF Fairmont dash cluster.
The Volts and Oil pressure guages are definately out of whack, and i think also the fuel and temp are too..
the temp is up and down all over the joint, but the engine doesnt actually get that hot.
And the volts are at about 10.5 with out the car running on the dash, and its actually 12.8 at the battery, and with the car running, it says 12v on the dash, and 14.2 at the battery..
And the oil pressure guage is all over the joint too, and yet the engine never rattles like its got no oil pressure, and well, it hasnt seized like it would have if the guage was accurate..
Do these dash's suffer from ground issues??
What could be the cause of the issues??

I think the E-Series all suffer from earthing issues and I run 2 extra earth leads. One from the inlet manifold to body and one from gearbox to body [about to get changed to battery].
Also I've noticed that spraying plugs with electrical connection cleaner has perked up all my volt and amp readings.
I've been changing all looms from a donor Fairmont into my GLI and had to pull apart all plugs, the aging on the pins shocked me, so now I'm spraying and cleaning as I go with good results.
Try cleaning your cluster-loom connectors as well as your engine bolted cable end to battery terminals. There are a couple of earth connections under the dash, these may need cleaning. [very unusual]
First, I'd try and make contact with a member near you with the same model and swap clusters. That would show you immediately if your cluster is fine or not
Your next move depends on that result.

Just checking in a manual and the 2 causes listed for erratic instruments are:
Faulty earth circuit
Faulty ignition switch
