Hello....

I was replacing a dodgy speaker in my ef fairmont ghia today and broke the controller rod that connects the door lock (the bit you can see on the top of the door) to the metal parts inside the door.

I would imagine that the part is not hard to find but after playing around with it for a while I couldnt see how to disconnect the plastic controller rod from the metal parts inside the door (without a hacksaw that is :) )

Can anyone help?

It is probably going to be easier and maybe the only way, is to remove the door lock mechanism from the door. To do that you need to remove the 3 screws from the outside of the door, where the door catches and disconnect all of the metal rods from it. The Mechanism will lift out with the plastic rod the one that goes up to the button, attached.

Thanks mate.

Sounds like a bit too much effort. It looks like it would like to come off but I cant see how.

I rigged up a replacement with a piece of coat hanger. The original plastic one is still hanging inside the door trim, but it will do!

Cheers.
