So whats the deal? Why dont they actually fit?

For ages i have had to fight with mine to stay where it should, and it never does. I have tried bending the clips, tried different clips and it just dont fit, they are so s**t.

Has anyone else had this, and what fixed it?

Why do these gear boots suck so much balls?

Mine fits fine even though it's missing one clip.
The only thing I can think is that it may deformed it a little or something.

so the clips dont hold?

bend them out so they clip in tighter..... or check that your console isnt broke

Console is fine, i have tried bending the metal clips out a bit but then they just fall off. The plastic tabs that the metal clips mount on appear to sit about 5-6mm too far in. I cant see how it ever would have worked properly.

Have you got some photos showing the problem?

No, its probably a hard thing to take a photo of unless i pull the console out, however i'll try and do a dodgy drawing in a minute

Now excuse the dodgy drawing, but this is what i'm getting.

Image

Lets say the black line is the console cutout, the blue line is the shape of the boot plastic ring thing, thered is the plastic tabs the metal clips sit on, and the yellow is the metal clips. With the metal clips bent out, it still sits too far out from the console cutout, not letting the clips "clip" in.

I had the exact same issue mate, the boot is ok in warm-hot weather but come the winter and cold mornings, the boot pops out and moves with the gearstick. bodgy

I reckon, they are crap.

I just tries something else, i pulled one of the clips off, and stretched the living s**t out of the other 3, so far so good, but next drive will reveal whether i throw it out the window or not.
