Hi,
In the technical document documents.php?d=14 it mentions an EF Police chaser Instrument Cluster that can be adjusted to calibrate the speedo and odometer. 1. What sort of price do these go for and how often do they come up? 2. Where would I find info on how to calibrate them? - David. |

Calibrating them is easy.
Simply hold down the reset odo button until the police calibration appears, then its pretty much incremental of + (½ second push) and - (1 seconds push) They calibrate upto 10% either way, (pretty large amount) They fetch for around $150 for low K's. I've even let some go for $80 (with around 300,000k's on the clock. I have a couple, EF and EL types with various K's. eBay have them from time to time, price raging from $100 - $500 sadly, I sold one with 3,184k's for a miserable $120 I hope this answers your questions.

Thankyou for that info Krytox.
Why is the Kms such a big issue? Changing the mem chip is not hard if you know what your doing. |

Correct,
However changing the eeprom also removes the calibration feature. The eeprom holds the Diagnostic and Calibration data as well as the accumulated numbers. I've repaired numerous clusters and also changed readings. Honestly it is NOT worth the time and effort, MOST people want lower K's to their true readings and Others want an Exact amount (like myself) Seriously, would you like a Cluster that has 700,000k's on it if your car has only done 175,000? Also you know the needles and other gauges haven't worn and most liekly the cluster is in better condition when 'lower'
