G'Day all, I have just picked up a trip computer for a EF for nothing. Have plugged it (one globe busted/no drama) however the only time the unit lights up is when you press one of the buttons. As soon as you release the button, the unit turns off. Anyone got any ideas on the problem or is there a button sequence or something to turn it on? Thanks for your help guys.

There is more to than just plugging it in. A few more wires need to be run to the plugs on the instrument cluster and one wire needs to be cut.

I have instructions from Ford on how to do it but it will cost a $5 donation to Fordmods for it.
PM me with your address and as soon as you donate I will post it to you.

Cheers

They are not as good as the simplified Ford instruction sheet I've got.
Plus he is supporting Fordmods this way too.

Try and find an old loom whether it is complete or not and use it to get any wires from that are
A: long enough and B: have pins on them so you can just plug them in.
Its a little fiddly removing wires with pins intact but if you use an old loom just hack up the connect and removed the wires with pin attached.

Cheers

Is there another loom on the car already that can be used? I have bought 3mm wire, will that do the trick? I am finding this fairly confusing as I have the Trip comp only with no other acc.
