EF and EL dash's are exactly the same as far as mounting points go. Obviously you will need to use a different wiring loom and all the other necessary bits and pieces to get the additional airbag to function, but yes mounting points are the same.
If you're talking about the rivets in the rear doors that allow you to bolt the top part of the arm rest to the door, I stole some of the rivets out of a parts car and managed to press them into the holes of my doors using a bolt and nut and a bigger nut the same size as the hole and a washer over the surface of that nut. Tightened the bolt with the rivet on the end of it to pull it through and into the hole. Worked for me.

No, the mounting bolts all work but electrically there is some significant differences.
First the dash to body loom connectors one of the two large ones are different, the orange one from memory. The next is the tach signal is different between EL and EL. Can be done but a pain from experience better off sourcing the correct model.

if re using current wiring just go for it , may need to connect up the air bag on the passenger but who would bother ?
Its not like they go of in impacts anyway |

Hi,
The Air-bags do go off. There is a resistor on the passenger side you take out to fit the Air-bag.
