not so much a modification, more like a repair
roof was oscilating enough that it would change the cabin pressure enough to cause discomfort in the ears...add to that the constant rattle....had to take lining out for triming anyway so it gave me a chance to check out the roof issue. Ford used some kind of sealer between the supports and roof to stop noise but after 16years it has gone as hard as nails and the roof would rattle against it. I used a whole caulking gun of body sealer (rated to 200 degrees celcuis)...all good now, no noise at all

yeah i had to do something similar.
i put a sealed cell foam padding between the roof and supports to stop the sub rattling the roof. also helped keep the car cool in summer and warm in winter.

Probably also a good idea to check the ventilation ducts in the rear qtr floor in front of the LH tailight are clear also (flaps are free). Have seen them stuffed with rags (for some reason ??)

did similar with my sedan, and then added some reasonably high density foam, seemed to make a difference.
