i just picked up a 1996 ef xr8 manual with only 110xxx on the clock,it is in great condition with not a scratch on it but i noticed it only has front power windows and no climate control or trip computer. I have sourced out these parts but was wondering if this is a simple plug & play job or do i need to change wiring sensors ect..
cheers Luke... |

To Add a Trip Computer requires one wire from the cluster and the clock pins to be re-arranged. and 2 more wires to be added.
documents.php?d=32 The Climate control however requires a Dash out job. You can get away with using your existing heaterbox and retain your AC gas. You'll have to source a Dash loom, as its easier to do rather than adding 30+ wires. You need a Blend door motor, sunload sensor, fan speed regulator, vacuum pack, plumbing and quite a few other bits. You car being an XR, will have a Engine loom, so you won't have to add any wires for the Ambient temp Sensor. I've done 3-4 conversions, and if you have all the parts, you can get it done easily withing a Day. Here's a basic Doco. documents.php?d=8 To add electric rear windows, you'll again need to add your own wires, or grab a Fairmont Body loom. So to answer, No, Its not plug and play.
