Im looking at converting my dash to an EL dash, cant really be bothered with climate control conversion as well, so might be getting a GLi dash, what i was wondering was aside from the obvious climate control/trip computer is there any differences between a GLi dash and say a Fairmont/ghia dash? Any extra wiring or anything? any colour differences?

The dash itself, no just the accessories, climate control, aerial switch button and bezel, trip comp, dash badge insert headlight switch dash cluster.
Also the map pocket above the ash tray has a velour/velvet insert piece on it.

It would be useful to know what model car you are considering putting the EL dash into.

The Plastic Dash is the same between all models. There are however different colours of grey depending on the model. Just make sure you have all the pieces from the same car.

The instrument cluster needs the EL ECU to run correctly, and no, there are no alternatives.

Read my thread in the garage as I have done this conversion in to an EB. There is a link in my sig.

Yeah its going to into my ED, spoken to you about it on ffau benj, except this time ive decided to just put the full EL engine bay loom into my car as well to run the au motor as my current setup is a rats nest of wires.

I already have a EL manual ecu and SHOULD have an NL cluster on the way which i know is a bit to get working right. I can pick up a dirt cheap EL GLi dash here in bendigo, but I really want say a fairmont/ghia dash to chuck in it but can settle for the GLi dash and just upgrade the little parts as I go as long as the colours and such are more or less the same?

Yes.

I used the dash and console from a futura and then added the trip comp, climate control, Fairmont cluster, rear console light etc.

That is the easy part. The hard part is getting it all to work.

You will need a Fairmont dash loom for the high series items to work along with associated hardware ie. all the bits for the Climate Control.
