Can it be done without changing the whole dash or can i get away with changing the plugs or is it a completely different shape I.E. where it screws into? but i like the look of the EL EF dash and wanted to know if one will fit into my ED dash without having to change the whole dash and just use the dash plugs?

I want to change the cluster only not the whole dash but I have PM'd him to see how he did it as i have the complete fairmont dash but I have just bought the manual console part for my ED console so would make it a waste if I couldnt use it, I was thinking along the lines of changing the plugs to the cluster and seeing if the EL cluster will fit a ED dash if not i may have to change the lot? seems like a big MOD to do but I'll wait till I hear from BenJ first

Sorry, I'll reprhase what I meant, BenJ fitted an EF/L Cluster to his RED EB back when it had the EB Dash in it.

Any chance it has to from a 6 CYL el/ef? can it be a V8 or will the tach not read correct? also im looking at using a fairlane dash cluster

EF/EL makes no difference if it is a 6 or 8 for the cluster, as it gets all info from the ECU

Fairlane clusters are different again in their plugs and pinouts.
When I get home I will send you the relevant pinout chart for them. You will also need to install all of the door ajar switches etc and the required wiring to suite. Have a good look at the tech doco covering this before you commit to the Fairlane cluster as there is a LOT of work involved. Cheers BenJ
