Can anyone tell me what controls the speed of the blower in the fan/aircon..
The speed of the blower in my EL seems fairly slow at the fastest setting ..the variance between full output and 3 is minimal. I have removed the module with the 3 spring type coils in it and gave it a good clean but it makes no difference.. Is there another component i can look at that controls the full speed, or is it just the thing with 3 springs( which I guess is some kind of resistor for the slower speeds 1,2,3) Thanks, Mick... |

pretty sure thats all there is, just that resistor. they are about $45 new maybe just try it out.
though usually they sort of stop working except on full

Sounds like the blower is constrained a bit - what I mean is something may be slowing it down like a blockage of leaves, etc.
Behind the glovebox is a biggish purpley/brown two pin connector - unplug and apply 12v to it (+ to red, - to black) and see if it runs at full speed, if not, then the above is likely - if it does, it could be the accessory relay is not switching over to give full speed - the accessory relay is green and lives in the fusebox).

The fan is supplied full power on max (resistor bypassed) if its not blowing max it may be a blend door not open full or another door not operating properly.
