Blocked heater core or buggered heater tap.

normally a core gets blocked with sludge caused by using plain tap water

Yes it can be. You need to remove the pipes going tobacco side of the heater core. Then back flush the water with a hose and vice versa. Keep doing that until the water comes out clear. It was also be worth flushing the block and radiator.

check thermostat first-top and bottom radiator hoses get hot - temp. gauge ?
left rear of engine - check heater tap operates - lever should move -vacuum to tap ? - if vents change should have vacuum to system -tap may move but still be faulty internally - hose at heater tap should be hot in and hot out with heat on - blocked heater core -disconnect both hoses and check flow with garden hose to start with....... |

Hello,
Does the Temp. gauge look normal ? If it is very low the thermostat may be stuck open.

didn't need to check anything as it was working fine the next day but I have notice that it takes a while to change from cold to hot on the heater dial then same with the opposite. so im thinking it could be a faulty valve in the heater tap.
