Wondering how to remove the radio surround in my EL Fairmont. I've removed the ashtray and removed the lower left screw but in the Max Ellery's workshop manual it mentions a second screw on the lower left. I can't see a screw on the lower left yet there is something still holding it in place.
Any help would be excellent.
Cheers.

theres only the 1 screw on the gli, but i think on the fairmont there is 2 screws one on the left and one on the right? its been at least 3 years since ive taken a fairmont one out as both my fairmont ash trays were broken and i replaced it with my gli one,

I just removed it and there is one lower screw on the left and on the right there is a silver metal ball type thing where the plastic clips onto. It's easy now I know how to do it.
That Max Ellery's book was telling me something that wasn't there

The early EF ones with the flip down ashtray cover have two screws instead of the ball.

The ball threads into the second screw hole on the right, so they are interchangeable.

They changed the design sometime during the EF model life I think, they were a s**t design and always break.

For the record the only difference with a Fairmont one is the felt in the pocket.

They had the same type no matter what spec the car.

Thats my contribution for the day
