Hi,
I need to remove the pin the seat locks into when folded upright. The manual says it unscrews, but there doesn't seem to be a Hex section where I can get a spanner. It is quite tight, I tried Vice-grips with no luck. Any secrets or tips ? Thanks 96ELGli

To remove the bolster there's a bolt down the bottom you remove. Squish your hand between the seat base and the bottom of the bolster and you'll see it hiding down in there. Then push the bolster inwards and upwards at the top to set it free from one of the clips, then simply slide it sideways off from the tab/bar thing you're trying to remove. You can then pull off the plastic surround thing and unscrew the tab/bar thing you're trying to get off.
Hope this helped. |

Hi,
Thanks, Ill give it a go. I have the lower bolt out, I would have expected a Hex shank on the top bolt / pin. Regards 96ELGli

If the EL is the same as EB (which seems likely) if you pull off the plastic trim on the folding seat locking pin, there is a 16mm hex. Un-do that and pull the pin out. Then, pull the front of the seat base sharply upwards roughly in the middle of the left and right seating positions to remove the base. At the bottom of the bolster, there will be a 6mm bolt holding the bottom of the bolster on. Take that out and then push the bolster upwards and it should be freed from the clip.

What else is there to do? I have tried to push inwards and upwards, but it will still not release. it's stupid and wrong that you have to pull the whole car to bits to remove on part.
Ford should be fined to the point where it hurts for making things far more complicated than necessary. |

Hi,
There is a bolt on the bottom, which holds a wire loop. 10mm I think, you can reach this by pressing between the seat base and back-rest. Using vice-grips or multi-grips unscrew and remove the Pin that the folding part locks into. Lift up the bolster and it is out. 2 bolts and one part to lift.
