hi brought a trip computer to fit in my el gli. was just wondering about the trip computer plug. the question is where the other wires are already connected there is little metal contacts inside the pins but where the slots where the other 3 wires have to be run from it doesnt seem to have the metal contacts. does that matter or is it just abit fiddly to get working thanks.

Well, it does really....there are no metal contacts on the connector as the wires are not there. The doco explains what extra wires are required, and so obviously either pins will be needed, or some other sort of connection between the pins and new wires...

So to answer the question, there are no contacts in those 3 holes as there are no wires there on your loom. You will need to either source some pins, or come up with a way of connecting the 3 new wires to the pins...

If Fairmonts are a bit scarce at the wreckers, you can use another EF/EL clock plug or instrument cluster plug for your pins - they are held in by 'fingers', but carefully dissecting your donor plug may be easier to get them out.
