Ok Fellas :) on my lunch break i was bored, so i got in the car, and well cause i plan on putting in electric windows, i decided to remove the drink holder panel in the center console, now im just wondering, after removing this panel, what the orange and blue wire that connected to a black wire were for? Does anybody know?
cheers fellas
Jason

Rightyho, from memory the orange wire is for the handbrake warning light. I have another wire for my rear centre courtesy light (not sure what the color is) but that is it. Not sure what it could be for in GLI's (courtesy light not fitted just wiring tucked away?) :?

ahh yes thats what i thought it would be for, the handbrake light :) i was hoping it would be for a courtesy light, and then i would be able to put one in without the stuffing around :) ahhh well, when i do my windows, ill have to feed wire through there anyways... might as well chuck one through for the courtesty light while im in there

Only the ghia's got the loom with the courtesy lamp plag that you are talking about... And then you need the clear plastic cover for the lamp. Otherwise it's all ready to go.

I think I have both as spares at home.....

I have a non-Ghia Fairmont and still have a centre courtesy light.

I think you need a new center console to take the window switches and you will need the wiring as well if its not already there.
