My passenger window a few eeks ago developed a few problems. As I was putting it up it would angle out then have to be straighten up by hand. I had thought I had fixed it until tonight when it started making really weird metal gridning noises. My drivers door also does it without the noise.
Question is how do I fix it? Me and a mate are going to take the door trims off tomorrow to see if that will fix it. What should we be looking for? Cheers. |

that just happened to me like 2 days ago, im afraid the mechanism has had it lad, you will soon find out it is unfixable like i have just done, had the exact same noise a grinding noise, it was my left rear passenger window so i shoved a big chunk of wood in there and secured it with a few cable ties, then put the door trim back on, I aint payin for new motors til they all f**k up

obviously under some part of the window/regulator that will stop the window from falling down

hunt around at the wreckers and see if you can pick up a few more motors ?
EF_Mont_Ghia do you have to buy them in 4's? if so you should buy a set and sell the ones on here you dont need no doubt many more people will be after them. motors in my AU are dying, almost dead :/ central locking has died in the drivers door, electric windows in the passengers door, now starting to go in the drivers door too :S Last edited by MilleniumFalcon on Mon Apr 04, 2005 6:33 pm, edited 1 time in total. |

the regulators you will need to source from your wrecker dylan - they go for around $80-$100 2nd hand.
the existing ones are rivited in - you will need to drill out these rivets, and replace them with bolts, but ones which are small enough that they will not scratch the glass when you wind the window up/down! pretty lengthy process, but you need to have working windows

i grabbed a piece of wood and somehow got it behind the door frame and lodged in up underneath the bottom of the window and the bottom of the door frame, then i got a couple of cable ties and secured it to the frame, so now when i press down on the window it doesnt fall down or move as the chunk of wood is stopping it from moving, now thieves cant get in unless they smash a window , fairly simple just need to find the right piece of wood, luckily i have an empty block next to me and there was heaps of different pieces of wood lying around.

Hi, I had a similar problem with my passenger front window. The grinding noise will stay but you can get the window to go up straight. Remove the door trim and remove the 2 screws that hold the bottom of the track. Drill 2 new holes about 2mm to the right of the existing holes. Screw the track back on using the new holes and this should solve you tracking problem. The grinding noise has been in my window now for a couple of years and it still works fine. Hope this helps.

My rear passenger window has had it pretty well altogether. I just dont use it any more. Ive had problems with the window runner-seals in wet weather, as the window gets jammed when trying to close and needs guiding by hand.
I figured maybe a bit of dry soap on the runners, but havent tried it yet..... |
