Haha theres a wrecker over here that wanted 100 bucks for a trip computer from an EA. The buttons were pressed so much that they were white and there was a crack in the screen. When i commented on the condition of it all the bloke could say was "What? You want it to look pretty?" What a doosh!

Interesting you picked up on that Futura_XR,
Went to NSW and did my p1's using their free transfer system, you get ONE shot at it and they destroy your VIC licence regardless of the outcome. Have installed a clock, picked it up from local ford parts dealer for $30, looks fantastic, with no fuss installation. Could have had the TRIP Computer for an extra 10 but is practicly useless as i always run on gas, plus its more fiddly with installation. Heres a pic of my clock:

Off topic, Does that make it legal for you to drive in Victoria though? AFAIK you must follow the licencing rules of the state you a driving in, ie must be 18 to have P's in Vic. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, however if I'm right then your driving in Vic without a valid licence. Also you can only hold a interstate licence for 3 month unless you are part of the armed forces.

Definatley go the black buttons, they look heaps better in the later models!

My NSW licence is valid in victoria for three months however that is only applicable if i take perminant residence here. As the classification of perminant residence is vague and I am constantly going between states to our residence in NSW it clears things up a bit. I didnt know about the armed forces condition. Where did you hear this? All I am aware of is that my licence is valid for three months, after which I will take up with Vic Roads. I cant imagine havting to return to L Plates! That would be unbearable. How much for this black buttoned clock philaddis? |

Eligibility
If you have a current interstate or New Zealand (NZ) driver licence and you have been in Victoria for three months you must change your licence to a Victorian driver licence. For up to three months after arriving, you can drive in Victoria if you have a current interstate or NZ licence, even if you are under 18 years of age. Just grabbed that from vicroads which clears up the age issue, I am driving legally but only for 3 months! |
