My cluster looks identical to the Gli cluster with the line markings every 5km, and with fuel and temp guages. It doesn't have oil or voltage guages and does not have 2km line markings. This car was definately NOT an ex-chaser as I bought the car off my uncle who owned it since new. I put photos of this in my gallery.

Wow !!!!! Thats Freaky !!!

I have tried the police feature on a couple of non police clusters (Including Fairlane), and it shouldnt work !

Possibly the cause of this is VDO had some chips left over for the polie function, and fitted them to some non police clusters.....

But yeah, thats the first time I have EVER seen it working on a Standard cluster !!!!

These ex chaser clusters sound interesting.
If the oddometer reading is stored in an eeprom, why do you need to change chips to get your old mileage stored ? Surely it should be possible to just write the old oddometer value into the chip via some clipon EEPROM writer. Does anyone perform such a function ?

As it seems rather hard to find ex chaser clusters, is it possible to flash the chaser program into a non chaser cluster ?

Cheers

that's naughty, all you CAN do is take note of when a new engine is replaced and inform a new buyer. The Odo is for the WHOLE car, not just engine/tranny

so when and if you replace your cluster you should change the k's to what they were and there's a law against changing the reading??

Um, no. The law is against fraudulent readings. If you get a new cluster and change them reading so it matches the one you pulled out, that's fine.

Ex-cop clusters are rocking horse s**t nowadays....mines ex-cop and odo fritzed.Couldn't even get one from Ford(allegedly),even though i had the original in my hand......best they offered was xr8 cluster for just under $600.Find a standard cluster with similar Kms and swap EEPROM.Cheaper and much easier.
