You sure thats not the way its meant to be? Security so the boot can't be opened without the key or fob.

on our EL, there is a time out sort of thing. Where you can still operate the boot / fuel flap release after the keys have been removed.

yeah. you have to do it not long after you take the keys out. its like under 5 minutes or somthing. Its handy becuase when you are at the petrol station you can turn the car off. remove the key and pop the fuel door. Its the same for the boot lid as well. You have to press the button before the timer goes out.

It must be a EL thing then. on my NC you can pop the boot/fuel door at any time regardless of how long the key has been out of the ignition! handy feature if you lost the keys!!

i think they made it that way on the fairmonts so you cant steal the stacker out of the boot. but i got the s**t with it and just got a 12v supply from the fuel door switch and wired it into th boot release only took about a 1 min to do and now boot can be opened with no keys :D

Timer - cuts our for security purposes to protect your goods in the boot from theft, or even the theft of your CD stacker/spare tyre or tools.
