The speaker grills on my front door trims are busted. Do I need to replace the whole door card or can I just get replacement grills to fit into them? Also, anyone have an idea where I might find the parts I need on the Gold Coast?

You can replace the speaker grilles....Remove your door trim and on the reverse side you'll see how they are attached.

I don't know if you can buy just the speaker grilles themselves, But if you go to a wreckers you might be lucky enough to find a EF/EL that has damaged door trims but the grilles are still okay.
Wreckers generally won't sell just the speaker grilles by themselves.

Thanks for that. I guess I can always just drop the rest of the door trim off at the tip. Just seems a waste to take the whole thing when I only need such a small part.

How badly damaged are your speaker grilles? Are they just pushed in? If so remove the door trim and push them out...They pop back into shape pretty easily.

Just buy a new set of door cards, it will cost you the same and be less hassle, you have to take the door cards off anyway so all you need to do is fit the new ones. Upgrade to Fairmont trims. If you are interested I have a set of Fairmont trims here as well as 2 sets of Ghia woodgrain trims. |

to Revcore:
No, they're definately broken, they're plastic and you know how plastic ages and gets brittle... I found a couple of sites where people were making metal grills for home stereo speakers and was actually wondering if anyone's ever tried making their own metal grills for the EF falcon doors? The stock plastic is cheap and tacky so metal would be a huge improvement! |
