Check some side profile pics.

Doors can shut (with BA door trims) with complete dash installed. There are gaps between dash and trim. Nothing a custom trimmer can't fix.

Overall cost is substantially less than what an 2008 FG Turbo sells for on Carsales (and you won't find one with just 2000km on it), let alone a new one. I think the principle is don't give up. Ask, seek and knock and you'll eventually receive what you want/need |

interesting build. i figured alot of stuff would easily match up physically. im interested in the electronic side. the fg is miles apart from the ba in electronics, and as such im guessing you will need to do all the wiring, sensors, and such from an fg. wouldnt it of been cheaper and easier to buy a fg shell, or even a smashed fg, and put all this upgrade gear into it? plus then you could of sold any extra parts from the smashed one? as it seems the only thing you would have from a ba is just the shell?

Electronically, yes the FG is completely different. But no.. not a lot of stuff matches up physically. Ford have done a lot more under the skin than meets the eye, and if you see the differences you'd really pity the amount of skepticism the FG receives as 'just an update' of the BF. The amount of parts shared between BF/FG, I think I can count on one hand. The amount of custom fabrication that has gone into making it all fit, you would not pick by looking at the finished product. I could almost fill a page with every small thing that was modified to get just the dash and console in (this is getting it all to sit in tight and properly and look close to factory as possible). I'm sure you can get them to just sit in the car with a simple cut/shut with not much effort. Thankfully with the amount of FG's being wrecked, I was able to source all parts quite economically, quickly and well within budget. Well yes, it is easier and probably cheaper to source an FG wreck and do it up. It all comes down to personal preference I guess? I am not a fan of the overall FG shape. It's gone backwards in some aspects, forwards in others, but the overall result just looks bland and anonymous.. this would probably the most Jap/Euro-influenced falcon to date. Motor and interior were the major leaps forward with FG and what I wanted the most. I think the BA/BF has more character and presence. Added to that the sentimental value the BA had to me, and me not liking the idea of having a car that's been written off before, or going through all the hoops and pitfalls of legalising a write off (viv/pink-slip/etc). And what's the fun of driving 'just another FG' that neighbour Joe Blow or taxi driver Krishna drives around in. |

Seats bolted right in. All interior electrics work, except door lock actuators, still trying to get the BA ones to work with FG electronics. The plugs for seatbelt minder and power adjustment are different. I am running entire FG body looms throughout the car, so it all worked first time. FG seatbelt stalks mate up with BA seatbelts.
