i am wanting to fiber glass the center console of my EB. jus so its a little clearer what i am trying to do, i have cut the little glove box out of the center console and i am going to make it pretty much flat.
i will still have the little indent that is infront of the bit where the glove box was and i will still keep the air conditioning vents at the rear. my question is how would i go about it with out a mould?? i was thinking maybe making the shape i want with chicken wire but what would i do from there?? i no the basics of fibre glassing, i play around with it a fair bit. was jus wondering if some1 with a little more exp. could help me

he knows what he is talking about lol. If you need to make a shape which you cant make my stretching material over something use aluminium foil. However if you can stretch material over the console in the shape you want its easier to do and get a flat surface. Cotton lycra is good cause it stretches in all directions, and use contact adhesive (or something really strong) to stick the material down to sides. Then after its dry paint the material with polyester resin, let it dry, then go with layers of fibreglass and polyester. After using polyester resin over the top of where the glue is it should come up fine if you sand it, it has when i ahve done it. nick

aluminium foil is only used if you dont want the resin to stick to whatever shape you are using eg: when i molded a guage pod on top of my dash i taped aluminium foil onto it. i obviously didnt want it to stick. but still wanted the exact shape.
if the shape is complicated, you can stretch the cotton lycra over it and use clothes pegs on the back to get the right shape on the front, then trim the excess material after the resin has set. go for it!
