It can be done and its almost all plug and play swapping everything over. Matt_Jew has installed a complete and working Ghia dash with climate control in his AU ute.

As they are both AU1 everything will go in without the headache of many of the AU1 electrics not being interchangeable with AU2/3.
You'll need to use all of the Ghia's climate control gear/heater box and you will will need to use the oil pressure sender for the oil pressure gauge to work correctly. And fairly sure the cluster wiring on the base model only has 2 plugs as opposed to the Ghia's 3 plugs. If you have a decent workshop manual with wiring diagrams it will make the job a lot easier. Also, if you are wreaking the Ghia and the rear door woodgrain spears are in good condition, I'd be interested in buying them off you. The clips on mine are broken so I'd like to replace them. PM me if you'd like to sell them.

No, the oil pressure sender is the same thread as the oil pressure light switch and is just a straight swap. Tricky to get to though, it's located under the intake manifold pretty much between the oil filter and the engine mount. You'll need a 1&1/16" deep socket to fit the sender however.
The fuel gauge? I have no idea.

I have also put in the electric windows in the back trying to make it a Fairmont wagon. I have came across a AU1 Fairmont dash.... do i cat my loss and swap out the 2 for the 1 or keep going??? I will be trying to finish this on this Friday so ANY HELP would be great. Pics would not hurt as well. Thanks for any help Cheers Kevin |
