And the rear HIGHRISE stop lamp holder is correct. Highrise... you mean the one thats near the roof and shines out the back window on high series models? The light thats in the parcel shelf isnt right. thats the one i assumed it was. |

You'll find the high mount stop light holders to have a larger circular front flange, so you'll find they won't fit and screw in properly under the lower instrument panel. As mentioned, use the brown coloured ones as used in the autoquad lighting.
Same deal with the rear console light too. I'm talking EF/EL.

OK so I got some lights from Supercheap today.
They say DC12v compatible. So I chop off the little cigarette plug, and just to test if they work without it, I connect them to the plugs at the back of the cig lighter. Nothing. So I pull the cig lighter plug apart and connect that to the 12v. It works. Is it just me or does DC12v compatible actually mean that it will work when connected straight up? Now I cant take them back because they are opened and cut up, but unless I hook the dismantled plug up they arent going to work. Also, both those wires (blue/black, green/yellow) have 12v, then one drops to 0. Will running 12v into the the back of the plug (the earth wire) cause any problems? eg burning/ melting? Fcuk it I am really annoyed that they dont work on 12v. Bastards. |

you did switch the ignition on? Cig lighter works on the acc circuit.
Also did you cut anything that may look like a relay or a little box? sometimes that could hurt. Simple to know. Pop the hood and test them directly on your batt terminals. |

most of them led lights have a resister inside the cig plug socket

Yeh it was turned to acc, and i tested it with my multimeter.
The cig lighter plug on the light is a little box with a switch, and when I pulled it apart there was some resistors and crap. I'll just wire the plug itself in behind the ashtray then run it to the two lights. And have the plug switched to ON. Hopefully that'll work. I just thought that seeing as it says DC12v compatible on the box that it would run on an actual 12v. Obviously not in this case though. Oh s**t I forgot to mention, they arent LEDs, its a neon tube. I dont know if they'll dim properly or not, but it doesnt matter if they dont becuase I'll use them in the boot if they dont. |

nah it suffered a bit of an accident involving a brake line bursting (i think i never saw the car afterwards) and colliding with a pretty sturdy fence post.. |

Are they actual neons or the LED stick? I know the LED stick works off 12v but the neons have a resistor setup in the cig lighter plug. Unless yours are different...
