hey all, i've got an EF XR6 and its very original, never had a major accident and all the vin stickers match. i installed a premium sound system from a Fairmont Ghia and the plush pile carpet. i pulled the dash looms and floor looms out of the Ghia and grafted it to the XR loom so it looks factory.
i really wanna put in rear electric windows and a heap of Ghia stuff but i think it takes away from its originality. i know its not the most collectible car but i like it original. so basically should i keep it stock or chuck in some Ghia gear like chrome handles, etc? |

Dunno why you'd bother with rear elec windows, just added weight and are of no real use imo, unless you carry passengers who want their windows down.
It's your car bud, do what you want to it! |

I wouldn't worry about collectibility or originality any time in the next decade or two, so go for it if that's what you want.
With the looms, I thought XR's were Futura spec loomwise, so you already have front elec windows and therefore the floor loom is fine for elec rears, just need to add in the back door looms. |

Just keep the original stuff so you can return it to stock if your that obsessed.
Most XR's I see have the trip computer etc added anyway. |

There is no harm if you do mods with style
Just make sure you dont "RICE IT UP" too much otherwise you kill it Also as previously advised just keep the gear you change, I do so if I ever want to go back to stock I can.

thanks boys, i've got premium sound and a trip comp installed, plus the carpet was worn so in went the Fairmont plushy carpet. i did some reading upon this site abt climate control and might give it a go after i get all the bits.
problem with keeping orginal bits is i havn't got a lot of garage space, and i find things get damaged and i end up chucking it out |

I installed the Ghia upgrades- trip computer, power windows, footwell lights and climate control to my EB XR6, I had the same restraints, in the end however the luxury was certainly worth it.
I was under the impression that these enhancements were optioned to XR6 anyway. Also I dont think you will need to keep the parts, if they are all standard wouldn't it be easy to get them off a wreck in the future if need be.
