this is on behalf of a friends car. 1997 el gli falcon. Occasionally the central locking will not operate correctly. lock button will be pushed and it tries to lock itself on/off up/down for a few times. All the doors are shut as well. this prob is usually when the door is open and you try to lock it but its doing it when all doors are shut or just trying to get in the car normally. its been suggested that it is to do with the ECU? any suggestions?
Cheers Andrew

When the doors cycle like that, its usually a stuffed actuator on one of the front doors.
Take both front trims off and unplug one of the actuators - check if the problem stops, then plug it back in and unplug the other and check it as well.

Remove the front door snipper buttons for a while, and see if the problem disappears. If after a period of time, the fault doesn't reappear, the snipper buttons weren't fitted properly.

My EL falcon has the same issue and my brother in law (again same problem but with an earlier model) suggested that the actuators were stuffed, that was the cause of the problem in his car and when he exchanged them the issues stopped

Try this first, it worked on both my EF and EL....
take door trims off and spray silicon spray on every moving part...
