Hi...
Feel free to read my garage... viewtopic.php?f=53&t=79040 I put a BA wheel into my ED... The wheel will fit... The airbag is different (BA is dual stage firing)... The cruise buttons and radio buttons will not work (different plugs and physical wiring inside the switches)... The clock springs are different (EF is 5 wire BA is 10 wire I think) You'll want long fingers to reach your combo switch (wheel is offset different) (I swapped combo arms)... Phsyically bolts on the column... But you'll be customising some wiring... Also you'll be mounting the AU bag into the BA horn somehow... To take it off without setting it off disconnect battery for like 10 mins prior... Cheers, Tim

Ash wrote: Jonesy_ford wrote: with out blowing the airbag. Just unplug it, it wont blow. This is the other way... When you unplug airbag components I'm pretty sure it shorts the pins before they become electrically disconnected... This way no static can set the bag off... Cheers, Tim

I reckon you'd be right Ash... I've never paid that much attention to the plugs to see whether the short before break or short after break... Disconnecting the battery is one step safer... Somehow I'd really hate it go off while you've got hold of it...

Better safe than sorry, but it seems unlikely that it would go off unless wires are bare and touching in the process of removal. The airbag goes off when a relatively high current goes through the airbag to create heat in the resistor or conductor which then sets off the gas charge I think.

static electricity will set them off (hence the plugs automatically short the pins when unplugged)... not high current... its only an ignitor so... again its as explosive as a gun so best handle with care...

In the case of static, then it is probably best to keep yourself grounded to the chassis.
