does anyone know why that "fuel door" writing is on the cluster under the tacho needle (EL)? Dosent seem to serve a purpose that i can see. just curious.

not really many people know this but when you pull in to a petrol station you need to know what side the fuel door is look at the dash there is an Arrow pointing to the left of the car <fuel door
Just tells you what side of the car is fuel door is pointless but harmless

Its a good idea when you think about it. Especialy someone who has just come from a car with the fuel tank on the drivers side.

It would be there due to Fairlanes and LTDs having the fuel door open light being fitted in that small car outline diagram.
