My trip computer does that to me sometimes as well. I think it may have something to do with how i fill up. If i dont put much in sometimes it does it. Although it did it the other week for a whole tank. Just read 0 and kept beeping at me for the whole tank. Wouldnt worry about it...
Cheers Sam

Is the fuel gauge itself operating correctly still?

If the tank was empty when you filled up, sometimes the float has a habit of getting stuck at the empty level. Its rare, but sometimes they can get stuck on the surge tank or the pivot gets gummped up.
A few bumps in the road or a bang on the bottom of the tank is enough to help it get its act together. And the gauge is buffered, so can sometimes take a few minutes for it to display the true level. It's happened to me a couple of times in the past and everyone now and then someone pops on here commenting about it. Also, being a wagon, it means the wiring and connectors are exposed under the car. May have gotten dirty or wet. |

In my old EA2 Falcon when you filled it up it wasn't unusual to see the gauge wander up to full, then suddenly empty, then wander up to full again... I don't know if it's related. I just assumed it was something in between deciding that the fuel sender was giving out an invalid value, so it showed zero on the gauge to get the driver's attention.
